MEETING MINUTES

Yankee Rowe Community Advisory Board November 12, 1998

The sixth meeting of the Yankee Rowe Community Advisory Board (CAB) was held on November 12, 1998 at City Hall in North Adams, MA. The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM by Chairman Brad Councilman, with thirteen members present.

ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES

The minutes of the September 24, 1998 meeting were accepted and seconded.

Anita Barker noted that she had not attended the September meeting but had watched the video and felt she was in the room.

Brad Councilman announced Brian Locke has resigned from the CAB leaving the board without a vice chairman. He said Yankee can make a decision in the next two weeks as to who should be vice chair or if one is needed.

The CAB than broke into the following sub-committees for dicussion:

DRY CASK STORAGE AND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE

After about an hour of discussion the groups returned and made the following announcements.

DRY CASK STORAGE AND TRANSPORT COMMITTEE REPORT

Lenny Laffond gave the report. Chuck Bellows had been appointed chairman and Allan Twitchell vice chairman. At their next meeting they will:
- Review the video film of the presentations on dry cask storage
- Have a demonstration of the dry cask model
- Find out why Virginia Power and Light has several different dry casks
- Have YAEC dry cask expert available to answer questions
- Discuss safety aspects of the various fuel options

The next meeting of this committee will be held at Rowe Town Hall on January 14, 1999 at 7 PM.

FINAL SITE SURVEY COMMITTEE REPORT:

Anne Skinner was chosen as Chairman. The vice chair is the committee as a whole. At the next meeting they will
- Review existing site survey plan for radiological issues
- Obtain site survey plan for non-radioactive hazards
- If possible visit site while survey team is monitoring site.
- Put information into comprehensible form for general public

The next meeting of this committee will be on January 6th, 1999 at the Florida Town Hall at 7 PM.

The CAB members talked about having another group meeting in March or April. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM.
