Overview

The Final Status Survey field work is nearing completion with over 95% of the property surveyed. Yankee Atomic expects to complete the final status survey and site grading within the next several months and to submit all Final Status Survey packages to the NRC by the end of 2006. Yankee Atomic anticipates to substantially complete the site closure project by 2007.

The ultimate goal of the site closure process is the production of a thorough and sound assessment of potential environmental risks that may be found at the site. Once remediation has been accomplished, the final step in the clean up project is to prepare for the safe release of the site to other parties. Each step in this process is being performed in cooperation with government agencies, in order to ensure that it is consistent with all applicable regulatory standards.
